Warm Hub for the Community

Charities are a vital part of the health and care system, providing personalised advice, information and support to millions of people living with long-term conditions. As well as this, the 14 national health charities that make up our coalition have sector-leading capability to support problem solving, policy development and service design.

Charities have so much to offer the NHS and social care. As well as influencing at a national level to improve healthcare for people living with multiple long-term conditions, we think we can be part of the solution.

Our charities have:

  • Service offers that can practically support the challenged health and care system.
  • The ability to lead or partner on innovative projects to design new types of services.
  • Valuable patient insights, data and evidence which can help to improve health and care.
  • A role in advocating for patients, being a critical friend to the system.
  • Power to connect and convene conversations on current issues.

We’re developing resources that explore how charities and ICSs can work best together to fix problems and help improve patient outcomes.

From 2016-2019, The Richmond Group, supported by Public Health England, ran Doing the Right Thing, a local ‘collaboration of collaborations’ in Somerset, with representatives from the coalition, wider voluntary sector, and public services. The Richmond Group invested in local and national programme management to scope the collaboration, develop an action plan, and bring everyone together, including a National Steering Group.
